The lower drip area has rust. The uppers shine up very nicely. We cleaned it and painted it with a high heat black enamel paint. The areas toward the inner grate the flames will burn off the paint in those areas after a few days.. This is a gorgeous grate extremely hard grate to find. There are no cracks or breaks. it is still a very solid grate. This is one of those parts that if you only need one, you buy two as it may be years before you'll see another. MEASUREMENTS: Ring width 8.0" - Underside peg to peg is 7-1/8" - measured from the underside (the ring has two pegs (see pictures)
