This is a very, very old well used shut off knob, it looks like it may have several different applications as well as repurposing, it does turn - we do not know if the valve works - we are unaware as to what antique appliance or specific application it was used on - it was in boxes of vintage stove parts we purchased several years ago and we thought it was very interesting.
